In early May of 2010, the website for “Interkulturellt Nätverk” (Intercultural Network) was launched. The website, built solely by Björn Sennbrink, rest on a solid WordPress foundation and use the NotesBlog Core WordPress Theme.
This intercultural network for women in Sweden is an important organization and is during its first year governed by UNIFEM in Örebro, Sweden. UNIFEM is United Nations Development Fund for Women that empower women all over the world. In Sweden UNIFEM is represented on a national level as well as on a regional level. It is at one of these regional levels, Örebro, that the intercultural network has its support.
The website make use of a modified NotesBlog Core theme. The theme is very easy to understand if you are a somewhat experienced WordPress developer. On this particular website the core theme layout has been kept intact with the default(?) header-maincontent-sidebar-footer structure.
With WordPress being built around two main content types, posts and pages, one is somewhat limited in what is possible to do with that. Sure, you could add different stylesheets for different pages, categories and tags. Here we have made us of four query_posts() prior to the four “Loops” used on the index page.
Another feature not featured in the NotesBlog Core WordPress Theme is the three widgets at the top in the main content column. They are there with the help of some code in functions.php and is administered from the WordPress Admin Control Panel->Widgets.
